What is grief and loss?

Grief covers the loss of a loved one, a miscarriage, a divorce, or any other significant loss. It can include sadness, anger, numbness, or a mix that shifts over time, and there's no fixed timeline for working through it.

Faith offers real comfort during loss, but it can also come with pressure to grieve a certain way, quickly, quietly, or without visible struggle, especially when patience and acceptance of God's will are emphasized. Grief and faith are not in conflict, but that pressure can make an already hard process feel more isolating.
