What is anxiety and overthinking?
Anxiety is a persistent state of worry, tension, or fear that can show up as racing thoughts, physical restlessness, difficulty sleeping, or a constant sense that something is wrong. Overthinking, replaying conversations, anticipating worst-case outcomes, and struggling to quiet the mind, is one of the most common ways it shows up day to day.
For many Muslim clients, anxiety carries an added layer of guilt: worry that struggling with anxiety means not trusting Allah enough, or that a strong faith should make the worry disappear. Family and community pressure to appear composed can also make it harder to admit something is wrong in the first place. None of that means the anxiety isn't real or treatable.
How it shows up for Muslims
Our treatment approach
Our therapists use evidence-based approaches like CBT to help you understand what's driving your anxiety and build practical tools to manage it, while making space for the spiritual questions that come along with it. Medication management is also available for clients whose anxiety would benefit from it.

Real questions. Honest answers.
-
Yes, though it often goes unspoken due to stigma around appearing to struggle. Family pressure and community expectations can make anxiety harder to admit, not less common.
-
No. Anxiety is a medical condition, not a spiritual failing. Many people with strong faith experience anxiety, and treating it does not conflict with your beliefs.
-
Yes. For some clients, medication alongside therapy provides real relief. Your provider will talk through fasting and any faith-related concerns before prescribing anything.
-
Not always, but the two together are often more effective than either alone. We coordinate care if you choose both.
-
Many clients notice improvement within a few weeks of starting therapy. Ongoing treatment length depends on your specific situation.
